EmoBay Chat Levels Up: Memory, Wellness Insights & Real-Time Calls

November 12, 2025

Conversation view of the new EmoBay Chat experience

EmoBay just rolled out the biggest refresh to our companion experience since launch. The update focuses on deeper emotional intelligence, faster real-time support, and safety-first personalization so every check-in feels genuinely seen.

Four pillars power this release: an improved EmoBay Chat that adapts to your tone and context, seamless EmoBay Call sessions with real-time voice, the debut of user-controlled Memory, and a brand new Mental Wellness Analysis dashboard. Here’s how each piece works together.

A Warmer, Smarter EmoBay Chat

Convos now open with time-aware greetings that remember your preferred name and avoid repeating the same lines twice. EmoBay also auto-cleans duplicate messages, respects pre-filled prompts, and quietly brings in the right system context—location, user profile preferences, and recent chat history—so replies land with the right nuance.

When you opt in to Memory, the chat API securely saves vector embeddings of important moments and can retrieve them on the fly. That means EmoBay can follow up on ongoing threads (“How did the group project go today?”) without you rewriting your story.

Seamless EmoBay Call, Powered by WebRTC

EmoBay Call now negotiates real-time audio sessions through a new low-latency engine that runs over WebRTC. The browser spins up a secure session in seconds, complete with server-side voice activity detection so you never have to press push-to-talk. If a device can’t use WebRTC, the system gracefully falls back to the existing speech-to-text plus text-to-speech pipeline.

Behind the scenes we log every session as a dedicated call chat, merge history without duplication, and carry the same personalized context from chat—including Memory summaries—into the voice flow, all while honoring existing daily usage limits by plan.

Memory That You Control

Memory is opt-in by design. Registered users see a consent dialog the first time they land in chat and can toggle Memory on or off from the new settings page at any time. When enabled, a dedicated Memory page shows indexing progress, lets you pause collection without deleting data, and gives quick access to saved summaries for review or deletion.

Each Memory entry is generated by a dedicated tool invocation—so you’ll spot “Memory updated” badges inside the conversation—and everything is stored on Encrypted Postgres with pgvector support for lightning-fast retrieval.

Mental Wellness Analysis, Visualized

The new Health Trends dashboard turns your EmoBay interactions into a wellness timeline. Consent once and EmoBay will batch summarize conversations, chart sentiment trends, map emotional distribution, surface top themes, and generate a narrative written just for you. Long-running analyses show real-time progress updates and can be resumed later without losing work.
